Instructions to fill online form/application
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) invites applications for the position of
Research Associate (RA) in its research areas. The position is open to candidates who have
completed their PhD.
Selected candidates will be required to submit the PhD (including provisional) certificate at the time of
joining IITM.
Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal outlining the work they intend to carry out during their
RA tenure at IITM.
Qualifications
Essential Qualification
Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree from a recognized University in
Meteorology / Atmospheric Sciences / Oceanic Sciences / Physics / Applied Physics /
Geophysics / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / Chemistry /
Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering / Geology / Earth Sciences /
Environmental Sciences / Computer Science / Electronics / Computer Applications
or related subjects.
At least one first-author research paper in a Science Citation Index (SCI) journal
in the relevant field.
Age Limit
35 Years (Age relaxation as per Government of India rules)
Emoluments
RA-I: ₹58,000/- per month + admissible HRA
RA-II: ₹61,000/- per month + admissible HRA
RA-III: ₹67,000/- per month + admissible HRA
It may be revised as per the rules
Tenure
01 year, (Extendable by another 02 years
years depending on the performance)
Application Timeline
The selection process will be conducted every quarter:
January, April, July, and October.

List of publications
Research proposal (maximum of 2000 words)
Detailed Biodata with details of educational qualifications, age, work experience, etc.
Two recommendation letters
At the time of interview, candidates are required to produce original documents of the following:
A No Objection Certificate from the employer concerned, in respect of those applicants who are
employed under the Central/State Government / Public Sector Undertakings / Autonomous Bodies.
Note: The qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement; however, it does not
automatically make candidates eligible for the interview. Only after the initial screening of the
application and considering the merit of the submitted research proposal, the candidates found
suitable will be called for an interview at IITM.
